Top NBA Betting Picks for Monday, May 10

Today marks the final Monday of the NBA regular season. Teams have just a few more days to secure their playoff positioning, and those battles dictate how we should view tonight’s betting card.

Here are the top NBA betting plays for Monday, May 10, provided by BettingPros experts Raju Byfield and Isaiah Sirois (Main game odds courtesy BettingPros Consensus; lock and prop odds sites may vary):

Betting Lock of the Day

Sirois: Hawks -7.5 (-110 at FD Sportsbook)
We may see Russell Westbrook break the triple-double record this evening, but we should see the Hawks cover this spread as well. At 21-11 ATS, Atlanta boasts the NBA’s fourth-best such record. Though their three-game winning streak came to an end against the Pacers on Thursday, the Hawks have had plenty of time to rest up, and they have gone 10-5 ATS with a rest advantage. That’s the association’s second-best mark. With Bradley Beal sidelined until around May 14, look for the Hawks to fight hard and cover in an effort to avoid the play-in tournament.

Top Game Prop of the Day

Sirois: Trail Blazers Under 126.5 (-106 at FD Sportsbook)
This total is astronomically high. No team averages this many points per game, and no team allows an average of this many points per game. In fact, this total sits 6.6 points above the highest-scoring team’s per-game average (Milwaukee, 119.9) and 7.8 points above the worst-performing defense’s average (Washington, 118.7). Although the Rockets are pretty much phoning it in at this point, Portland may opt to limit their starters’ minutes because of their brutal season-ending stretch of games. It’s also worth noting that the full-game overs have hit in only 44.1% of Portland’s home games.

Top Player Prop of the Day

Sirois: Jarrett Allen Over 13.5 Points (-106 at FD Sportsbook)
This isn’t quite a plus-money prop, but the juice is on the under, so I like it as a value play. Sure, the Cavaliers are tanking — they haven’t won a game since late April, and they have long since been eliminated from playoff contention. Interestingly, Jarrett Allen’s minutes haven’t fallen off that much — he has averaged 32 of them per game through Cleveland’s 10-game losing skid. He is averaging 12.9 points per game through that span, a nose below this total, but Indiana’s defensive struggles should help him clear this total. The Pacers surrender the third-most points per game to centers (24.8), and Allen recorded exactly 17 points in 29 minutes against them back in March. I expect a similar showing from him tonight, especially since the Cavaliers have such a lengthy injury report.
