UFC 263: Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno Betting Guide

Summer has officially arrived on the 2021 UFC calendar as UFC 263 in Glendale, AZ will get us kicked off for what should be an exciting three months. In what should be one of the best, if not the best, cards of the summer, two title fights proceed the long-awaited return to the ring of Nate Diaz (vs. Leon Edwards).

Once Diaz vs. Edwards wraps, the first title fight of the evening will serve as the co-main event as current flyweight champ Deiveson Figueiredo takes on Brandon Moreno for the second time in 12 months.

Will the rematch live up to what ended up being one of the best fights of 2020? Let’s take a closer look.

Since winning the Flyweight Championship in February 2020 vs. Joseph Benavidez, Figueiredo has successfully defended it three separate times. In his last (and most recent) fight against Moreno, Figueiredo has deducted a point for a groin strike, which ultimately led to him drawing against “The Assassin Baby.”

A Black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and subsequent submission specialist, Figueiredo, enters this fight averaging 2.4 submissions per 15 minutes in the octagon. In fact, three of his last four wins have all came via submission, all three in the first round.

For Moreno, a draw in the first fight vs. Figueiredo was arguably the best result of his career. Since joining the UFC in 2019, Moreno has primarily fought lower-ranked opponents and finished just one of those fights inside the final bell.

Entering this fight, Moreno is landing strikes on just 38% of strikes thrown and averaging just .6 submissions per 15 minutes. While the skill and technique are there, he has done very little to prove he is amongst the sport’s elite, in my opinion.

Outright Bet

In what is one of my favorite bets thus far on the UFC calendar, Figueiredo I see as a steal at anything at or around -200. Not only is he significantly more healthy than he was six months ago, but he seems to have some added motivation as well after Moreno has done nothing but run his mouth in the time since.

Pick: Deiveson Figueiredo (-245)

Top Prop Bet

With rematches such as this, I always like for the fight to end inside the final bell. Not only is there real animosity between these two, but I see both motivated in this one by a big showing propelling them into superstardom on a card of this caliber.

Pick: Will the fight go the distance? – No (-132)
